What To Wear At A Summer Barbecue

Summer barbecues. There’s no denying that you’ll end up going to a few of them before autumn hits.

But what to wear?

It’s a tricky one. Seeing as you’re most likely going to be chilling at a friend’s house or hanging out with extended family, you don’t want to look like you’re ready to go clubbing.

But naturally, you also want to showcase your fashion credentials as best as you can.

So where does this leave you? Well actually, we think you can rock some of the hottest looks at a barbecue. It’s a place for you to appear super-chic while also giving the impression that you haven’t tried too hard.

Of course, the outfit you choose all depends on the unpredictable British weather. For this reason, we’ve suggested various items including trousers, a floaty dress, a skirt, shorts and a jacket.

If there’s extreme rain or a super-cold snap we imagine your barbecue will be called off. But a little bit of drizzle or wind has never stopped us Brits from throwing an outside bash, right?!

So it’s important to ensure you’re prepared for all eventualities.

If it’s a gloriously hot day, we advise pairing our favourite Topshop shift with a pair of comfy chunky heels and a floppy hat. Remember to pop sunglasses in your handbag, they’ll protect your eyes from the sun as well as look majorly chic.

For a lukewarm afternoon, work a skirt or shorts with a long-sleeved top. We’re totally in love with River Island’s 70s-inspired orange blouse.

If it’s a little bit colder, cover up by rocking a pair of glamorous peg trousers with a lightweight jacket.

Don’t forget your accessories! You can make any outfit pop with a necklace, earrings and bracelets.
