Cord Is Officially Back With A Bang

Corduroy is back in full force and who else to spear head the trend other than Alexa Chung.  It’s the retro trend that all the fash pack are jumping onto right now and we are sure you all will be too once they see these great picks!

We’d seen cord – the somewhat fusty fabric usually reserved for history teachers – make an appearance at the autumn/winter 2015 Topshop Unique show, but it wasn’t until La Chung rocked a J.W. Anderson cord skater frock that we began to seriously consider it’s return to our wardrobe. Since then, we’ve spotted Alexa’s pal Tennessee Thomas and Diana Vickers bringing the one-time classic out of style hibernation in the form of button down skirts and retro flares. Of course, it’s not hard to see how cord has sneaked back onto the fashion front line for the new season. The ribbed fabric enjoyed a style heyday back in the ‘70s, which, if you hadn’t noticed, is the decade fashion is currently enjoying a major love in with. Jane Birkin was a cord devotee.

Kate Moss – always one to play by her own wardrobe rules – has been wearing it for years. Need anymore convincing that cord is cool again? Just check out your favourite high street haunts. As well as the sky blue Unique catwalk pieces – touching down on September 9 – Topshop has everything from high-waisted flares to office-appropriate midi’s and shirtdresses. Boden and Next have timeless straight leg trousers nailed, while Zara and M&Co are championing cord frocks and New Look has some summer friendly tan shorts. Colour-wise, think hues of blue, tan, rust and burgundy, or pastels for a truly modern spin, and clash with silks, chiffons, jerseys and leathers. Trust us, all the coolest girls will be wearing cord this season, and if you want to get a head start check out this amazing cord selection here…
