Our Favourite Celebrity Fashion Moments From The MET Gala

The Met Gala is one of the most exciting dates on the fashion calendar.

It’s the night when stars really go wild with their looks – and we love getting to see the unique outfits they sport.

The Met Gala – also known as the Met Ball – is an annual fundraising event which benefits the Metropolitan Museum Of Art’s Costume Institute in New York. It also marks the grand opening of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibit.

Each year, the ball incorporates the theme of that year’s exhibition. Which is why we get to see the stars showcasing a whole new side to themselves.

In recent years, themes have included Punk: Chaos to Couture, Superheroes: Fashion And Fantasy, Goddess: The Classical Mode and AngloMania: Tradition And Transgression In British Fashion.

With such a wide variety of styles incorporated, you can see why we get pretty excited about celebs’ wardrobe choices.

One of our all-time favourite Met Gala fashion looks came from Kate Moss back in 2009.

She was dressed by Marc Jacobs for the The Model As Muse: Embodying Fashion theme and looked ah-mazing in a gold lamé backless mini with a matching turban.

In 2006, Sarah Jessica Parker embraced a traditional Scottish pattern for the AngloMania evening in a one-shouldered tartan frock. She matched the piece with late designer Alexander McQueen’s kilt.

When Marilyn Manson and Dita Von Teese were an item in 2005, they arrived at The House Of Chanel event in two very gothic black get-ups.

Aside from some very memorable fashion highlights, the Met Gala has also brought us quite a few romantic red carpet moments.

In 2014, David and Victoria Beckham made a stunning couple as they wrapped their arms around each other in co-ordinated white designs.

The same year, Jay-Z showed his love for Beyoncé Knowles by fixing her Givenchy Couture gown in front of the cameras and picking up a ring she’d dropped.
