Duster Coats You Won’t *Believe* Are High Street

When it comes to duster coats, it’s pretty hard to avoid crossing the line between designer and dressing gown. Yep, a duster coat is essentially a lightweight, floor-length version of a traditional trench coat, but while they’re super comfy, extra warm and VERY on trend, it’s easy to fall into the “I’ve just got up and slung on my Dad’s XL coat” trap. What with a duster coat’s sweat-friendly (sorry!) fabric, though, these beauties have trans-seasonal layering on lockdown, which is why we’ve put our fashionable forces together to curate an edit of the very best duster coats on the high street.

As for inspiration, duster coats certainly aren’t short (nor are they in length, either). None other than Ms Kim Kardashian West owns duster coats in pretty much every nude, grey and black possible, while Milan’s AW/15 catwalks saw many a duster coat hit the runway. As well as that, pretty much every street styler worth their style salt have been spied sporting the cover-up.

There’s a whole load of fashionable variations to choose from, too. If it’s colour you’re after, the SS16 runways saw pastel hues of pink, pale blue and lilac make their debut, with Missguided, Boohoo, New Look and River Island coming up trumps with more affordable copies. Bold sleeves and collars are also up for grabs. Look for princess ruffle sleeves and clean-cut collars for a fashion-forward take on the cover-up.

All in all, a duster coat really is a fash-investment worth making. The lightweight fabric means they’ll work well come spring, while the long length will make for maximum coverage during winter. Et voila. Shop our edit of the best duster coats for every lady (with street style inspo to prove it)…
