Zooey Deschanel is about to put her love of classic retro fashion to good use with her brand new capsule collection for Tommy Hilfiger. Too. Exciting.
The 34-year-old New Girl star has joined the US label’s design team to dream up 16 gorgeous 60s-inspired dresses, each of which will be named after one of Zooey’s friends (how cool?!).
Zooey’s famed for her love of flirty, feminine red carpet frocks and off-duty vintage style – and by the sounds of it, the actress’s Hilfiger collection will be a perfect reflection of her signature style.
‘They are Sixties-inspired short dresses,’ Hilfiger told WWD. There is a lot of red, white and blue, but done in a Zooey way with interesting detail and flirty fabrics.’
‘They are very Jean Shrimpton and Twiggy – really from the Sixties in London’, he continued. ‘That’s not something we would normally put in our regular sportswear line – maybe we’d be inspired by the Sixties for the runway, but it’s a new way to look at fun, American classics.’
‘I am a fashion fanatic, and I am always looking for new ways to incorporate vintage, feminine pieces into my own wardrobe’, Zooey told WWD.
‘Tommy and I share many of the same inspirations – old-school music, classic films and old Hollywood icons – and his guidance during the design process helped to put a really unique twist on each piece.’
The dresses will range from $98 to $199 and will be stocked in Macy’s from April 14 and online at Tommy.com from April 21.
