Zayn Malik has finally spoken out about his split from fiancée Perrie Edwards. And admitted that he still loves her. Eek.
Despite an incredibly public break-up back in July, the 22-year-old has been keeping very quiet on what exactly caused them to drift apart.
It was rumoured at the time that Zayn had ended things via text (er, OUCH), but he’s now insisted that that definitely wasn’t the case.
In an interview with Fader magazine, Zayn says: ‘If you could word it exactly this way, I’d be very appreciative. I have more respect for Perrie than to end anything over text message.
‘I love her a lot, and I always will, and I would never end our relationship over four years like that.
‘She knows that, I know that, and the public should know as well.’
Zayn does seem to have confirmed that it was him who did the dumping, although he won’t reveal exactly why he decided he’d be better off single.
He continues: ‘I don’t want to explain why or what I did, I just want the public to know I didn’t do that.’
Perrie has also kept a fairly dignified silence since she and Zayn parted ways, simply revealing that she’s ‘single and ready to mingle’ and that her Little Mix bandmates have been ‘like sisters’.
But fans thought she may have been making a reference to the Bradford bad boy when she recently revealed that their new song Hair was about an ex who was ‘just a b***-end and I knew it.’ Eek!
Perrie has been super-busy with LM over the past few months, releasing their third album Get Weird last week.
But now Zayn is also ready to take the charts by storm. The ex-One Direction singer has gone solo, and a behind-the-scenes video released by Fader uses a snippet of his new song Befour as its backing track.
We have a sneaky suspicion this may break the internet. Watch it below…
