Mind Of Mine: Everything We Know

The countdown has begun. Zayn Malik’s new album, Mind Of Mine, is set to drop on the 25th March (that’s this week guys, this is NOT a drill) and from what we already know it’s going to be an absolute BANGER.

Yep, obviously we’ve been playing Pillowtalk nonstop since the former 1D boybander released it – as well as Like I Would and It’s You – which will all feature on the album. And just this week Zayn surprised us by dropping his track BeFoUr for our listening pleasure.

He’s also been teasing us on Periscope with 90,000 fans tuning into the app to watch Zayn – complete with sexy new buzzcut – play some tracks off his album. The clips he played included SHE DON’T LOVE ME, TiO (Take It Off) and drunk, featuring the lyric “drunk all summer.”

Of course, the lyrics of Mind Of Mine are going to be something we’ll be paying particular notice to, as there’s bound to be some references to his relationship with Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards, his leaving of One Direction and maybe a few hints as to what’s going on with new girlfriend Gigi?

The tracks he’s already released have already got tongues wagging. BeFoUR has had people speculating that it’s throwing some shade at One Direction. The last album he worked on with the band was 2014’s Four – and in the track he sings “say what you wanna say, what you want. Shame you won’t say it to my face.”

In a recent interview with Fader Zayn spoke about how restricted he felt within One D. “There was never any room for me to experiment…” he said. “If I would sing a hook or a verse slightly R&B, or slightly myself, it would always be recorded 50 times until there was a straight version that was pop. There was just this general conception that the management already had an ideas of what they want for the band and I wasn’t convinced with what we were selling. I wasn’t 100 percent behind the music. It wasn’t me… We were told be happy about something that we weren’t happy about.”

Then there’s It’s You, the video of which features actress Nicola Peltz who looks uncannily like Perrie – the song features some pretty cutting lyrics including how “she don’t give a f*** about what I need” and “tell me your lies because I just can’t face it.”

While “Like I Would” is less cryptic and clearly about an ex with the lyrics “he won’t touch you like I do/he won’t love you like I would/he don’t know your body/he don’t do you right.”
