Zara Holland didn’t exactly have an easy time on Love Island.
She was dumped by Scott in favour of Kady, only to then come second to Olivia despite making it clear she had feelings for Adam. The blonde was proving to be very unlucky in love.
Then, to top it all off, Zara shared a night with newcomer Alex in the hideaway. It all got a little, errr, steamy. And, sadly, The Miss Great Britain organisation decided that it was grounds for a decrowning.
The people behind the beauty pageant released a statement, which explained that they could not ‘promote Zara as a positive role model moving forward’. Hmm.
Caroline Flack, host of the ITV2 show, tweeted her anger at the decision, hitting out: ‘Are we living in the dark ages?’
Our thoughts exactly, Flackers.
So what if Zara enjoyed a little hanky panky? She’s a consenting adult. And she should be in charge of her own sexual decisions.
The majority of the public were also outraged, and now there’s a petition to get Zara crowned once more. And it’s gaining a lot of momentum across the internet.
Yup, the campaign, which has been launched on Change.org, calls to ‘Give Zara Holland her Miss GB title back’, and currently has almost 13,000 signatures to date.
Speaking to the camera in Love Island’s hut, she explained how gutted she was at hearing the news: ‘And now I just made one silly, stupid mistake of being in the moment has ruined everything. I can’t even put into words how gutted I am.
‘So if they want to give me it back that’s fine!’
We’ll be keeping an eye on that petition…
