X Factor contestant James Arthur will be taking it easy this week – the singer worried producers and his family this weekend when he collapsed backstage following Saturday’s live show.
After belting out an amazing rendition of Mary J Blige’s No More Drama, James complained of feeling unwell. He was led out of the studio by Nicole Scherzinger and an ambulance was called to check on him. But thankfully paramedics decided he was OK – and didn’t need to go to hospital.
Yesterday, a source said: “James Arthur became unwell after his performance on the show last night. An ambulance was called as a precaution but he was not taken to hospital and he will appear on tonight’s show. The welfare of contestants is our key priority and we work with them to provide any support that is needed.”
James added: “I had an anxiety attack last night, maybe because I gave everything i had to my performance. I feel loads better this morning after a good night’s sleep and I’m looking forward to tonight’s show – there’s no way I am missing it.”
James seemed fine – and flew through to next week’s live shows, while Melanie Masson and District3 battled it out in the bottom two. Melanie eventually went home after the result went to deadlock.
Feel better soon, James! RM
