Thought festival season was over as the end of summer approaches? If that’s the case, we demand you wash your mouth out, because the opposite is true. Global Gathering, our favourite UK dance festival, is taking place on 25 and 26 July and it’s promising a stellar line-up.
There’s two whole days worth of beats for you to rave-finger out to, but if poring over the line-up to choose your favourites sounds like too much effort, let us save you the hassle – we’ve picked our top three don’t-miss women of the weekend…
You can’t miss the queen of dance music, DJ and Radio 1 broadcaster Annie. Over 1 million listeners tune in to hear her kickstart the weekend on Friday nights with the best new dance music and she presents her Superstar DJs with Annie Mac, which profiles the biggest stars of global dance music and follows them as they rock parties all over the world. She also kept working right up until she had a baby last May, so she’s super-inspiring, too. In short, she’s the best of the best.
Maya Jane Coles
Born and bred in London, when Maya isn’t hitting the decks she’s gracing the covers of music mags on an international scale. From playing under the world’s largest mirror ball at the Tate Modern to a mention in Vogue, she’s on the up and you should get involved now so you can tell your mates in a year’s time that you were a fan from the beginning.
If you think the boys are the only ones to bring it hard behind the decks, you’re yet to meet Hannah. Notorious for her hard-hitting bass house style, she’s a self-taught DJ from Birmingham and is the leading lady of this popular music genre.
