Big Brother hasn't even been on for a week yet, but Ofcom have issued a statement already...
Marnie Simpson has already made her mark on the Celebrity Big Brother house, and it hasn’t even been a week yet.
We always knew the fiery Geordie Shore star was going to be a big character, but after a confrontation with Loose Women panellist Saira Khan, the audience has been left divided by her behaviour.
Many viewers branded her a ‘bully’ after she flashed at her fellow housemate, but close friend Charlotte Crosby didn’t take too long to speak out in her defence.
According to a report by The Sun, Ofcom received a total of 79 complaints during Sunday night’s controversial episode which saw it all unfold.
The number appears to be on the rise, with a spokesperson for Ofcom telling The Express, ‘We have received 86 complaints about Celebrity Big Brother over the weekend. We will assess these complaints before deciding whether to investigate or not.’
Social media definitely reflected the outrage, with some even calling for Marnie to be removed from the CBB house.
Marns offered an insincere apology to Saira following an earlier disagreement, but she then lifted up her top and said, ‘Do you think we had the big confrontation because I’ve got better boobs than you?’
Comments included: ‘If a man did what Marnie just did- sexual assault #cbb Saira was annoying but that was wrong’ and ‘This is actually horrible to watch now… What Marnie did to Saira was bang out of order. So disrespectful. #CBB’.
James Whale wasn’t happy either, telling his fellow contestant to ‘stop it’ at the time.
Channel 5 has reportedly told the Daily Star that they won’t be removing Marnie from the house, but when asked about ‘bullying’, they’ve said that they ‘monitor situations at all times’.
We’ll be tuning in again tonight…
