If you’re currently checking your girls’ night out WhatsApp group under your desk, or have got used to the sight of your phone screen flashing with notifications throughout the day, we might be about to share some heartbreaking news with you.
If you’re the owner of a Blackberry, Nokia or Windows Phone, you might find that you won’t be able to use WhatsApp for that much longer.
The instant messaging app has made the announcement that Nokia and Blackberry operating systems will no longer be able to access the service… And the change is happening pretty soon, too, with December 2016 being pegged as the date.
We know what you’re thinking; how are we going to send ALL of those drunk selfies and updates about our work Christmas party?
The operating systems that will no longer be able to use the app include BlackBerry 10, Windows Phone 7.1, Android 2.1 and Android 2.2, and Nokia S40 and S60 devices.
Blackberry buddies, take note, it WILL still work on Blackberry’s latest smartphone, as it runs Android.
The technology wizards over at WhatsApp explained in a blog post, ‘As we look ahead to our next seven years, we want to focus our efforts on the mobile platforms the vast majority of people use.’
But what about the rest of us, guys?
We guess we’ll have to take our hilarious screenshots elsewhere…
