David Beckham looked like he needed a group hug from the LOOK team following his emotional, last ever football match in Paris on Saturday. The star sobbed during the game as it dawned on him it would probably be the last time he played professionally.
We didn’t think it was possible to love him any more, but there’s something about this teary gent that’s made us want to join him in a little sob.
Announcing his retirement on Thursday afternoon, David said: “I’m thankful to PSG for giving me the opportunity to continue but I feel now is the right time to finish my career, playing at the highest level.”
His last match was watched by his parents, his sister Joanne, Victoria Beckham and his children, Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper.
Talking to Sky Sports News, he said: “Tonight was a nice way to go out – in front of my own fans, in front of a capacity crowd that were excited because we’ve won the league. The celebrations have been incredible, so it’s a nice way to walk off the pitch.”
He added: “To go out like I did tonight couldn’t have been any more perfect.”
David received a standing ovation for his final performance and was given the bumps by his Paris Saint-Germain teammates.
Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz then joined him on the pitch for an emotional photocall as a proud VB looked on from the stands. How adorable. So long, Goldenballs!
