Tulisa has been charged in connection with supplying ‘Class A drugs’ after being exposed by an undercover journalist earlier this year.
The former X Factor judge was arrested back in June after it was claimed she had assisted in setting up a cocaine deal with her rapper friend Mike GLC.
And today, a Scotland Yard spokesperson has announced that the N-Dubz star will be charged with ‘being concerned in’ the supply of illegal substances.
‘The Crown Prosecution Service has today authorised the Metropolitan Police Service to charge Tulisa Contostavlos, 25, with being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs’, a statement from the chief Crown prosecutor read.
‘This charge relates to an investigation by The Sun newspaper between early March 2013 and May 23 2013 which resulted in the supply of Class A drugs to an investigative journalist’, it continued.
‘This decision to prosecute was taken in accordance with the code for Crown prosecutors. We have determined that there is sufficient evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction and that a prosecution is in the public interest.’
Tulisa is set to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on December 19.
Ben Rose, speaking on behalf of Tulisa, has also given a statement to the BBC, indicating that the singer would be pleading not guilty. ‘In due course Tulisa will give a full answer to these allegations in court’, he said.
