Some parents were left extremely unhappy with a divisive feature on The One Show last night.
The segment, hosted by Holly Willoughby and Alex Jones, involved getting a group of very cute babies to compete in a crawling race in honour of the Euro 2016 football tournament.
The babies’ mums were all on hand to help, but as the tiny tots crawled their way to the finish line, some of them found the chaos of the studio a little too much to handle, and burst into tears.
NO. Our hearts actually broke.
But whilst babies crying is nothing new, viewers were shocked when no one intervened to stop and help the babies, even whilst they were crying. And they made their feelings clear on Twitter.
‘Shame on you on the one show. Those little babies clearly unhappy. Unbelievable #oneshow’, one angrily wrote.
‘So the BBC #oneshow promotes @hollywills book on baby care then ends by exploiting screaming babies in football race after their bed time’, slammed another.
‘So ive just turned over to the one show where 4 babies look extremely distressed. Who’s idea was this and do you value your job. #TheOneShow’, tweeted a third.
At one point, the screaming was so loud that presenters Alex and Matt could barely be held.
A spokesperson for the BBC show has since told MailOnline: ‘This was a light-hearted item where four babies crawled for two metres towards their parents who greeted them with a big cuddle.’
