Why Taylor Swift *Really* Wasn’t At The MTV VMAs

After Taylor Swift's no-show at this year's MTV Video Music Awards, many thought it was so she could avoid Kim Kardashian and Kanye West... But nope, she was just at jury duty!

It was the MTV VMAs at the weekend, and a whole host of huge celebrities turned out to celebrate the annual event.

Kim Kardashian, Beyonce and Rihanna all hit up the star-studded red carpet to watch music’s biggest stars being awarded for their efforts over the past year.

But one VMAs regular most definitely wasn’t in attendance. Hmm.

Taylor was actually on jury duty over the weekend…

Taylor Swift was mysteriously absent from the awards ‘do – and many thought they knew why – to avoid an awkward run-in with Kim Kardashian, Kanye West and her ex, Calvin Harris, who were all in attendance.

But actually, that couldn’t have been further from the truth. Because guess what? Tay Tay was on jury duty!

Images soon swamped Twitter showing the Shake It Off singer carrying out her civic duties in her local hometown of Nashville.

‘So my grandma in nashville had jury futy with @taylorswift13’, one excited fan tweeted along with a snap of her nan and Tay Tay looking cute and cosy together.

‘Met @taylorswift13 today at jury duty. She is so nice. #civicduty’, wrote another fellow juror.

Well, that explains it then.

Meanwhile, over at the VMAs, Kanye West was making peace with his longtime music rival, as he told the crowd during his speech that he had spoken to her to clear the air.

‘Last week 22 people were murdered in Chicago’, the Famous rapper said. ‘People come to me like ‘take Taylor’. Like, bro, I love all y’all. That’s why I called her.’

He also followed up with a peace-making Twitter picture, that showed someone wearing a t-shirt with two different album covers on the back – 2010’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, and Taylor Swift’s portrait on the cover of 1989.

‘Unity love’, he captioned it.

Over to you, Taylor!
