If you’re reading this on your phone, you might want to take a little look at your little finger.
Why? Because you might be suffering with a condition known across the web as Smartphone Pinky.
The symptoms? A big ol’ dent in your little finger, right where your phone lives.
That’s right, social media users have been in the throws of a debate surrounding what’s been dubbed as the Smartphone Pinky.
Technology might be great for a lot of things – instant news (you’re welcome), a rockin’ social life and all the goss – but some say that there’s a side effect of being part of the smartphone generation. And our fingers are feeling it, apparently.
Tweeters have been snapping – yup, you’ve guessed it, on their camera phones – what they believe to be wonky little fingers, deciding that the blame lies with their cellular companions.
One wrote, ‘I have an actual #iphone injury. My finger has bent & will not straighten. Need to change the way I hold my phone’ alongside a laughing emoji. Another said, ‘my finger is bent because all i do is hold my phone all day’.
WE FEEL YOU. Our phones are never more than an arm’s reach away.
But, is Smartphone Pinky really a thing?
Upon closer inspection of our fingers, there does seem to be a natural groove on both of our hands – not just the one we use to hold our phone.
And not everyone on social media is convinced, with one arguing, ‘Look at your grandparents’ hands. They look exactly the same. The “dent” is there for the knuckle of the ring finger.. #smartphonepinky’.
We’ll leave you to decide…
