Okay. If you’re wearing your PJs, it’s time to put DOWN the mobile phone.
We’re all guilty of it – scrolling through Instagram at midnight or checking Facebook right as we’re about to nod off to sleep – meaning your phone ends up sitting by your pillow as you snooze.
But do you know what? You should probably stop that now. Becuse the NYPD 33rd Precinct in New York have just issued a terrifying warning.
Taking to Twitter to share some horrifying images, the NY police department wrote: ‘Don’t put your cellphone under a pillow when sleeping or when charging your device. Please share this tip and b safe!’
The tweet showed a selection of phones that look like they’d caught FIRE under a pillow or duvet. Blimey. That’s made us think twice…
Apparently, sleeping with your phone in the bed can cause the already hot battery to get even hotter, resulting in your phone melting, exploding, or catching on fire. On fairly terrifying prospects.
Consider yourself well and truly warned…
