Shay Mitchell just became our new favourite person.
Sure, we already loved her for playing the brilliant Emily in our favourite Netflix boxset, Pretty Little Liars.
Oh, and for her ah-mazing wardrobe and to-die-for hair, absolutely. But she’s also a dream to follow on Instagram – not just for her gorgeous selfies, exotic holiday snaps and super cool shoots, but also for her honesty.
You see, Shay may look sensational both in real life and in photos, but she’s also not afraid to admit that it takes work.
In her latest selfie, the 28-year-old Canadian-born beauty shed light on the more realistic side of Instagram by letting her fans know just how long it took to get that ‘perfect’ selfie.
‘When you take 500 shots just to get one that shows off the work of two artists… @patrickta & @chrisappleton1’, Shay captioned the image of her gazing down into the camera, all perfect tousled locks and flawless cheekbones.
We love it when celebrities highlight just how fickle social media can be, and make it clear that no, they didn’t just wake up like ‘dis. Because let’s be honest, taking a billion selfies until we find one that we’re happy with is ALL of us, right?
Not long ago, 24-year-old model Essena O’Neil also attempted to shed light on the same issue by re-captionining her entire Instagram account to prove how many shots it took to make her life look ‘Instagram ready.’
A shot of her on a stunning beach in a bikini had a caption that read: ‘NOT REAL LIFE – took over 100 in similar poses trying to make my stomach look good.’
Let’s keep up the honesty, ladies.
