Sharon Osbourne Hits Out At Claims She Was ‘Drunk’ On The X Factor

'It’s entertainment and it goes out late on a Saturday night'

Sharon Osbourne has clapped back at suggestions she was ‘drunk’ on last weekend’s X Factor.

The Overs mentor certainly seemed to be enjoying herself during the first live shows. And so she should have been – she was celebrating her 64th birthday on Sunday.

But after she fluffed her lines, looked into the wrong camera, missed her cues and, er, made reference to co-judge Nicole Scherzinger’s boobs, viewers wondered if she’d had a tipple or two.

Tweets included: ‘I love Sharon, but is she drunk tonight ?? @TheXFactor #xfactor,’ and: ‘Is Sharon drunk? ? she’s hilarious #SharonOsbourne #XFactor.’

Even host Dermot O’Leary joked about the speculation, quipping to viewers: ‘Despite what some reports are saying all the judges drank backstage was water. It was just high spirits.

‘Those spirits being vodka, gin and whisky.’

He also said: ‘We want whatever Sharon’s on.’

LOLz, so cheeky. But now Sharon’s explained exactly why she was having so much fun. And as it turns out, it was all pretty innocent.

Speaking on US chat show The Talk yesterday, she said: ‘Why is it while you’re there and you’re having fun and you’re being silly, do you have to be drunk. It’s entertainment and it goes out late on a Saturday night.

‘I’m there with bestest – Nicole Scher-linger-linger… She’s funny. She’s naughty and you have fun.’

Sharon’s looking strong going into this week’s round, with all three of her acts still in the competition.

She did have a sticky moment on Sunday, when her contestant Saara Aalto ended up in the bottom two with Louis Walsh’s group Bratavio.

But in the end, it was Bratavio (AKA duo Ottavio Columbro and Bradley Hunt) who ended up being sent home, with Sharon, Nicole and Simon Cowell all choosing to save Saara.

Ooh. We’re already excited for Saturday night.
