Saturday Night Takeaway was keen to pull out all of the stops for the final episode of the series, filming live from a cruise ship in Barcelona.
But viewers were quick to point out a number of awkward moments throughout the show’s finale, including a technical glitch that involved celebrity guest James Nesbitt.
The camera cut to Nesbitt’s microphone – but the star was nowhere to be seen. Ant and Dec looked a little confused, and soon cut to a commercial break.
The blunder was the talk of social media. Fans of the show launched into hilarious speculation over Nesbitt’s whereabouts, questioning whether he’d popped to the bar, or even abandoned the ship and gone overboard.
Tweets included: ‘Has James Nesbitt fallen overboard?’ and ‘…James Nesbitt isn’t allowed to go to the loo again!’
LOL. Come on, live TV doesn’t always run smoothly…
Katherine Jenkins, who performed during the opening of the show, came under scrutiny after some viewers accused her of miming.
The singer took to social media to hit back at one particular comment, saying, ‘Thank you for the compliment – my singing was FULLY live’.
Also, it was the moment that viewers had been waiting for – the revelation of the murder mystery, Who Shot Simon Cowell?
After weeks of build-up, it was finally revealed to be Pudsey the dog.
Many fans shared their disappointment, with one branding it the ‘the worst possible ending’.
Don’t worry lads, we loved it!
