The 54-year-old was convicted of fraud in 1984
Sandra Martin is one of our favourite Gogglebox ladies. She says what she thinks, has the best cackle and loves a Friday night takeaway just as much as us.
But it’s now emerged that the 54-year-old was once incarcerated, spending six months in prison for fraud back in 1984.
She’s said that it’s something she very much considers to be part of her past, telling The Sun On Sunday: ‘It was a very long time ago and I deeply regret it. I’ve turned my life around since then and have put this behind me.’
Sandra – who lives in Brixton, South London – was an inmate at Staffordshire’s Drake Hall prison.
Gogglebox producers have since confirmed that they knew of her criminal record, with Channel 4 saying in a statement: ‘We do not comment on the private lives of individuals.
‘We have been aware of Sandra’s spent convictions since we began filming with her, which relate to non-violent offences.’
This isn’t the first shocking piece of news we’ve had about Sandra in recent months. It was confirmed in December that her BFF Sandi Bogle was leaving the show, and would be replaced by Sandra’s daughter Chanchez.
At the time, an insider told MailOnline: ‘We are delighted that Sandra’s daughter Chanchez is to join the show next series. She’s a great addition to the cast.
‘Sandi has decided to leave the show to pursue her singing career and other opportunities and we wish her all the very best.’
Sandra’s made it clear that everything’s A-okay between her and her bezzie, Tweeting: ‘TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN .ME AND SANDI IS FRINDZ 4 LIFE..AM NOT REPEAT DIS AGAIN.SO PLEASE SURPOURT HER &JACK ROSE XMAS SINGLE 4 A G.O.S.H🎅🎅🎅 [sic].’
And we’re loving having Chanchez on the sofa. So bring on Friday.
