Ryan Gosling Will NOT Star In Star Wars Movie, Says Rep

Ryan Gosling will NOT be starring in the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII movie, the actor’s rep has confirmed.

Despite an army of sci-fi fans trembling in excitement at the thought of seeing the Canadian heartthrob flashing his lightsaber about on set after rumours that the 32-year-old had been having meetings with Star Wars creators Lucasfilm to play Luke Skywalker‘s son, it’s looks like RyGo and Yoda won’t be hooking up after all…

“This is not true”, the Drive actor’s rep wrote about the rumours in an email to Huffington Post last night. It doesn’t come as too much of a surprise, either – Gosling recently admitted that he’s keen to take a breather from acting in the short term. Sob!

“I’ve been doing it too much”, he told The Associated Press in March. “I’ve lost perspective on what I’m doing. I think it’s good for me to take a break and reassess why I’m doing it and how I’m doing it. And I think this is probably a good way to learn about that. I need a break from myself as much as I imagine the audience does.”

Apart from his directorial debut, How To Catch A Monster, which is set for release in 2014, Ryan hasn’t officially signed up to any new projects, athough there are whispers that the actor may be being considered for a lead role in the new Batman Versus Superman movie

We imagine girlfriend Eva Mendes is pretty pleased about this little acting sabbatical of his. If he was our man, we’d never let him leave the house! (Or wear clothes.)
