Kate Middleton and Prince William announced the name of the royal baby yesterday afternoon, confirming in a statement released by the Palace that the future King has been named George Alexander Louis.
The royal baby name reveal came just hours after the Queen was spotted visiting the couple’s home at Kensington Palace, presumably to talk through potential names for the little Prince of Cambridge.
In a short statement released by royal officials, they said: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to announce that they have named their son George Alexander Louis. The baby will be known as His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge.”
The name George, which LOOK tipped as the hot favourite to become the royal baby name, could be a tribute to the Queen’s father George VI, although Kate and Wills reportedly say that all of the names were chosen simply because they liked them. The Prince of Cambridge will be the third George from the House of Windsor to take the throne when he eventually takes the crown.
Kate, Wills and their newborn son were spotted leaving the Palace for the first time yesterday to head to Kate’s parents’ home in Berkshire, where the new family are expected to stay for the next six weeks while renovations are completed on their new home at Kensington Palace’s swanky Apartment 1A.
