Rebel Wilson very publicly took a stand against the world’s most famous family by refusing to present at the MTV V.M.A. Awards with Kardashian siblings Kendall and Kylie Jenner. Her reason? Because they are “famous for no talent“ and “seem a bit superficial.” Now, Oprah Winfrey has come to the defense of the family, revealing that she is totally Team Kardashian…
“I interviewed the Kardashians two years ago and I can’t believe how hard they work,” Winfrey told KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O Show in Australia on Monday. “People don’t understand that. People think, ‘Oh, if a television camera’s just following you, then that’s just easy.’ To really create a reality series that looks like something’s actually happening, it means you have to be on all the time.”
“I went to film them as a family and I couldn’t believe how hard they worked,” Winfrey said, referencing her Next Chapter special on the family for her network OWN. “We were there for seven hours and they were gonna tape another seven hours after I left. No matter who you are, that is work.”
However, we can’t see Rebel being swayed by Oprah’s comments – the actress has some VERY strong opinions on the reality stars, revealing that she doesn’t think their meteoric rise to fame was particularly fair…
The ladies landed their show Keeping Up With The Kardashians in 2007, just months after Kim Kardashian‘s sex tape with ex-boyfriend Ray J was leaked.
Kim was already known in socialite circles for her friendship with Paris Hilton, while her father Robert had been a lawyer in the notorious OJ Simpson murder trial.
And yep. That’s pretty much all they had to do…
Rebel can’t help feeling frustrated that the sisters ended up in the limelight so quickly, while she spent years training with theatre companies in both the US and her native Australia.
The 35-year-old tells KIIS FM‘s Kyle and Jackie O: ‘They aren’t really about talent. I am all about personality and working hard to get where I am.
‘How Kim got famous from the sex tape and I just went to acting school and worked really hard.
‘I don’t hate them individually but what they stand for is totally different to what I stand for.’
She got offered the chance to present an award with the youngest KUWTK siblings, but ended up declining. Oosh.
Rebel continues: ‘I got asked to present with Kendall and Kylie at the latest VMAs but I said: “No, I’d rather do it by myself.”
‘I think I was going to dress up as Kim K if I was going to do that.’
EEK. Let’s hope they don’t hear about this…
