One Direction have played the last gig of their On The Road Again world tour before taking an extended break – and it was EMOSH.
Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan took to the stage for the last time at Sheffield Arena on Saturday night. *Sobs*.
They’ll now only perform a few one-off appearances at music awards shows before going their separate ways in March.
It was pretty obvious that the lads knew they were performing a poignant concert. As they sang, they hugged each other and made moving speeches.
Oh, and we’re pretty sure we saw a tear or two.
They took to Twitter to thank Directioners after the gig, with Harry penning the sweet words: ‘We have been very lucky to work with an amazing crew throughout the last five years of touring. To all of you, thank you for everything.
‘To everyone who came out to see us on tour, thank you for having us. You’ve been our everything out there, and we love you. Thank you. H.’
Niall said: ‘safe to say last night was incredible. Gona miss doing shows for a while , it’s the best part of what we do thats why it was emotional.’
Doncaster-born Louis wrote: ‘What a way to finish the tour and in Sheffield as well ! Thank you to everyone who came to see us.’
Opting for a different way of thanking fans, Liam gave them a sneak peek at the group’s new song Olivia. But despite seeming upbeat, there’s no denying that he probably found the concert more emotional than most.
The 22-year-old recently split from his long-term girlfriend Sophia Smith, revealing to The Sun On Sunday: ‘I’m absolutely devastated to have split with Sophia.’
‘Being on the tour all this year and being away from her was so hard. We spent so much time apart. But in order to do right by somebody sometimes it’s better not to do what your heart wants, but to do what’s better for them.
‘Right now I’m looking forward to some alone time to figure out who I am and what I want to be.’
We hope you’re feeling better soon, Liam.
