In a week where X Factor news has been taking over – yup, we’ve had Nick Grimshaw announcing his departure after just one year as a judge, and Caroline Flack put an end to her future on the show – we’ve got another HUGE bombshell for you.
Olly Murs has revealed that he’s QUIT his place as co-host of the live ITV talent show.
In an interview with The Sun, he’s explained the reason behind this big decision, saying, ‘My heart belongs to music.’
The Dear Darlin’ hit-maker went on, ‘This was an incredibly hard decision to make and one I didn’t take lightly as I’ve really enjoyed co-hosting The X Factor.
‘It’s been one big adventure and I loved every minute of it. But my heart belongs to music and I want to concentrate 100 per cent on making my next album and getting back to performing’.
Last series was Olly’s first year working as a host, and he took the role alongside Caroline Flack. The pair found themselves under quite a bit of heavy scrutiny after a series of mishaps during the live shows.
It seems that Caroline doesn’t want to continue without her close friend and co-host.
In a statement, the Love Island presenter explained, ‘I have had a brilliant time working on The X Factor over the last few years, and hosting the main show was just fantastic, I made some amazing friends. I’m looking forward to carrying on working with the team over at ITV.’
One thing’s for sure, the next series of X Factor is shaping up to look quite different…
