The 38-year-old totally blanked a question about Chezza at The X Factor launch yesterday...
For some reason, we don’t think Cheryl is going to be on Nicole Scherzinger’s Christmas card list this year.
Why’s this? Because Nicole appeared to throw some major shade at Chezza as she chatted to reporters at the launch of The X Factor yesterday. Eep.
As you probably know, Cheryl came second with her act Reggie ‘N Bollie last year.
She’d been on the panel with Nick Grimshaw, Rita Ora and Simon Cowell, but announced back in April that she’d quit in order to concentrate on her new album.
So now Nicole’s made her return to the show, judging alongside X Factor stalwarts Simon, Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne.
She was joined by host Dermot O’Leary, new Xtra Factor presenters Rylan Clark-Neal and Matt Edmonson and digital presenter Roman Kemp for a preview of the new series in London yesterday.
They were happily answering questions on the red carpet – until Nicole was asked about Cheryl.
Referencing Cheryl’s absence from this series, the reporter enquired: ‘You and Cheryl – you didn’t get to meet her on the panel this year?’
Nicole, 38, chose to ignore this line of questioning, instead gushing about Sharon: ‘I mean, Mrs O is the… I call her OG, the original gangster.
‘She’s the mama. I’m really close with her. The people on the panel – that’s my family.’
This clearly wasn’t enough for the inquisitive reporter, who continued: ‘But not disappointed that you missed out on Cheryl then?’
Nicole pulled a confused face and looked to her left, presumably to an assistant.
The journalist then pressed: ‘Cheryl Fernandez-Versini?’ before getting the hint and declaring: ‘Okay, let’s move on.’
The pair have been rumoured to be at loggerheads for years, ever since Nicole replaced Cheryl on The X Factor USA in 2011.
Cheryl, 33, also made a dig at Nicole in her 2012 autobiography My Story, claiming that the Pussycat Dolls singer sang her track Promise This to her during their first meeting.
She wrote: ‘I swear to God the woman sang the whole song, to my face. It was just so awkward.’
Crikey. Let’s hope these two can make it up eventually, eh?
