Poor Niall Horan.
We know it can’t be easy being a celebrity, and sometimes, rude comments on social media are just part and parcel of the job.
But sometimes it goes so far that the star just can’t help but speak out about it, which is exactly what happened to the One Direction singer last night.
He’s known for being the laid back cheeky chappy of the group, but yesterday, Niall couldn’t stay quiet on the horrendous messages he’d been receiving, and took to Twitter to speak out.
Explaining the awful situation, Niall tweeted: ‘For the last two weeks I’ve been receiving messages off a group of fans, they have drowned my phone in messages, keeping me awake at night [sic].’
‘But the worst part is they have been nothing but abusive.’
First up, they’re not what we’d call ‘fans’. And secondly, who on earth could hurl abuse at that little cherub?!
Niall then revealed just how nasty the messages got by explaining that they even targeted his adorable baby nephew Theo – we just don’t even have the words.
‘Saying things you wouldn’t even believe about me and my family and saying the worst things ever about my little nephew’, he continued. ‘Thank god I’m not the kind of person who thinks into stuff like this. But I just think it’s crazy how we let people away with things like this.’
Breaking out hearts a little with his next comment, Horan added: ‘The sad thing is, as I tweet this they are in the group chat laughing at me.’ Oh, poor lamb.
Niall ended with a reassuring message for his real fans. Don’t worry about me,’ he continued. ‘I’m the most carefree, laid back person around. But I’m just signalling it, because this sh*te is happening to others.’
Well done for speaking out, Niall. We hope the messages stop, pronto.
