Viewers were confused by the 29-year-old's apparent no-show on Good Morning Britain...
It’s official. Michelle Keegan‘s Our Girl is about to become our new big obsession.
The second series of the BBC1 Army drama aired last night, with Mich taking over from EastEnders‘ Lacey Turner in the lead role.
The 29-year-old plays medic Georgie Lane, who embarks on a humanitarian mission to Kenya after being left at the altar by fiancé Elvis Harte (Luke Pasqualino).
It was a dramatic opener – and ended on a huge cliffhanger. But in case you haven’t caught up yet, we won’t give anything away.
Viewers were quick to praise the ex-Coronation Street star for her performance.
Tweets included: ‘Never usually watch anything like #OurGirl but so glad I did. @michkeegan is amazing! ❤️,’ and: ‘@michkeegan #OurGirl was fantastic tonight! I really enjoyed it and wasn’t expecting what happened! [sic].’
Michelle was clearly touched by the support, writing on her own page: ‘Thankyou SO much for all your amazing comments, feeling very overwhelmed right now but really appreciate them all.Just wait till next week…’
Ooh. We’re already excited.
Of course, Mich had been busy promoting the programme before the airing. This week, she’s appeared on This Morning, BBC Breakfast and Nick Grimshaw’s Radio 1 show. Busy lady.
But fans got a teeny bit confused when she seemed to be a no-show on Good Morning Britain yesterday.
Hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid had said that they had an ‘exclusive’ with Michelle. However, when this didn’t happen, complaints started coming in.
One read: ‘Why wasn’t michelle Keegan on #GMB ? #michellekeegan [sic].’ Hmm. We’ve never had Mich down as a letdown, so this is a little strange…
A GMB spokesperson has now cleared things up, telling Digital Spy: ‘Michelle Keegan was not booked as a guest for today’s show.
‘An exclusive clip of her was due to be aired in Richard Arnold’s showbiz hit, but unfortunately due to timings it didn’t happen.’
Phew. Glad that’s all sorted. Congratulations again, Michelle!
