The 48-year-old's co-host Sue Perkins was absent from last night's episode. But viewers thought she did a *stellar* job...
You may have noticed The Great British Bake Off looking a little different last night.
Sue Perkins took the episode off, marking her first absence since the show began back in 2010.
Her co-host Mel Giedroyc took on presenting duties alone, which she briefly discussed with viewers.
She said: ‘Welcome to week two in the Bake Off tent. One baker has gone, they’re not coming back. Sue’s also gone, but she will be back.’
Sue’s decision to take some time out was totally understandable. The 46-year-old is believed to have suffered a family bereavement during filming, which took place back in April.
A spokesperson for the show explained: ‘Sue was not able to join the team in the tent this week, but she returns next week.’
We’re glad to hear it, lady. Sending you lots of love.
Of course, fans were a little bamboozed by the lack of Sue.
Tweets included: ‘Mel without Sue is like Ant without Dec #GBBO #BakeOff,’ and: ‘Idk if I can manage a full bake off episode without Sue ?.
However, plenty of others were keen to praise Mel, 48, on her solo efforts.
One wrote: ‘Laughing my head off at Mel on Bake Off, she’s my hero,’ while another commented: ‘Mel literally completes bake off for me, she’s hilarious ?.’
Of course, Bake Off wouldn’t be Bake Off without an innuendo or two. And Mel was full of ’em during Biscuit Week.
As one noted: ‘Gosh with Mel handling jugs and Mary Berry eating carpet, I don’t think I can cope with much more on tonight’s Bake Off! *fans self*.
Lolz. We’re already looking forward to next week’s episode…
