The 23-year-old thanks the show's cast and crew for his 'life-changing' journey...
We have a new X Factor winner! And it’s… Matt Terry.
Yep. The 23-year-old beat Finnish singer Saara Aalto to take the crown on last night’s show, and is now aiming to nab the Christmas #1 spot with his debut single When Christmas Comes Around.
Matt’s still clearly incredibly overwhelmed, and posted a series of moving Twitter messages yesterday.
The Bromley-born lad thanked the crew before sending special mentions to the judges, presenters and contestants.
He wrote: ‘To the incredible judges… Simon, Sharon and Louie you guys have made me grow so much as a person and an artist and I want to thank you for all your feedback and support [sic].
‘X FACTOR CONTESTANTS 2016 (MY FAMILY). My brothers and sisters. I just wanted to say how much I have for every one of you.
‘Without you guys none of this would be possible. We are all winners. What we have achieved this year is life changing. I cannot wait to spend so much time with you all!!! And bring on the tour !!!!
‘To Iain and Nicole. My two biggest inspirations. My big bro and big sis. Without a doubt, you guys have guided me through the right path and taught me all of your brilliance from the beginning.
‘Rylan and Matt what a journey this has been. Thank you guys for being there and making this experience so fun!!
‘Dermot… You are one of the coolest guys I’ve ever met with a heart of gold man.’
Aww. When Matt’s name was announced, his X Factor co-stars were quick to rush to the stage to hug and congratulate him (as he fell to the floor sobbing).
And one person he seemed to have a particularly sweet moment with was Freddy Parker, who’d also been mentored by Nicole Scherzinger.
Some even though they saw Freddy plant a kiss on his pal. Cute, eh?! However, a representative for the X Factor has since denied this.
Whatever the case, Matt’s clearly not short of admirers right now. On today’s Good Morning Britain, host Piers Morgan asked him if he’s enjoying the attention from female fans.
Laughing, he replied: ‘Of course – it’s so much fun. It’s a lot of fun, it’s crazy.’
Enjoy it, Matt! And congratulations.
