Hold on to your hats, because we have some SHOCKING news about Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.
The 29-year-olds have pretty much been everyone’s favourite twins since back in their Full House days, right?
We mean, who can forget the 00s classics that were Two Of A Kind and So Little Time?! Or their films that (tragically) never won any Oscars. Our favourite was Passport To Paris, BTW.
But it turns out we’ve all been living a lie. Because guess what? They’re NOT EVEN IDENTICAL.
Yep. The pair are actually fraternal (or non-identical) twins. If you’re into detailed descriptions, this means they were conceived when two fertilised eggs were implanted in the uterus wall at the same time.
So essentially – since there were two separate eggs fertilised by two separate sperm – they’re just ordinary siblings who happened to be born at the same time.
Turns out, it’s pretty rare for these sorts of twins to look so similar. So we guess MK and Ashley are a medical marvel, eh?
Now, we know what you’re thinking. Surely there must be some kind of difference between the girls? Well yes, there are.
One of the most obvious is that Mary-Kate is shorter by around an inch, perhaps because she was born two minutes after Ashley. And Ashley is right-handed, while MK is left-handed.
Apart from that? Well, they’re basically the same.
Excuse us while we go and fix our minds. Because they’re completely blown right now.
