We can hardly contain our excitement...
Love Island 2017 is almost upon us, and it’s time to meet the cast of this year’s hotly anticipated dating show.
Yup. It’s safe to say that we’ve been counting down the days since last year’s final.
This year’s bunch of singles include six gorgeous girls and five lads from all over the UK.
Of course, the name of the game is to find a partner and couple-up in order to win over the public and bag some prize money – all whilst trying to fall in love, obvs.
With last year’s series of Love Island already resulting in an engagement and some baby news (aw), we can’t wait to see what’s going to unfold this year.
So let’s meet the islanders, shall we?
Olivia is 26 and a Motorsport Grid Girl from Surrey.
She says: ‘I like the set up of the show; it’s very organic in terms of the relationships that are formed…’
And it seems as though this blonde babe is prepared to play the game: ‘I do believe in girl code with my close friends, but I don’t think it applies with girls you’ve just met.’
This 21-year-old is an Economics student from Hertfordshire, and she went to private school. She says: ‘I think people would probably call me quite posh!’
When quizzed on the type of guy that would be her nightmare in the villa, she said: ‘Someone who was covered head to toe in tattoos, someone who smokes, the kind of guy who goes to Ibiza all the time clubbing.’
Basically everyone that was on it last year then?
A 23-year-old glamour model from Devon, Jessica ‘can’t stand bad manners’ and is ‘genuinely looking for love’.
We’ve got everything crossed for you, Jess.
Chloe is 22-years-old, comes from Essex, and says that every boy she’s ever been with has cheated on her.
She says, ‘I meet so many pigs! I want to meet somebody nice.’
Here’s hoping he’s in that villa, Chloe!
Camilla is 27 and works in Explosive Ordnance Disposal. She says, ‘I’ve been lucky to have an interesting career that has taken me all over the world, and I have a lot of great experiences.’
Opening up about her decision to take part on the ITV2 show, she explains: ‘I’m still young but I’m definitely at the age now where a lot of my friends are starting to settle down. I also want to put my personal life first, for the first time in a long time, and give myself the opportunity to meet someone. It will also force me to break down some of the barriers that I have built up doing the work that I do…’
Amber is a 20-year-old dancer from South Wales.
She doesn’t believe she’s had her heart broken, but says: ‘I’ve been extremely upset about someone before but I’m quite tough so I wouldn’t call it heart break. I’ve definitely broken hearts. There’s exes that still follow me on social media. The two exes I had are in relationships now so hopefully they see it as water under the bridge.’
Talking about her potential fellow islanders, she admits that she hates arrogance: ‘Someone really cocky, and with no manners. I wouldn’t get on with them at all.’
Marcel, 31, fancies himself as a bit of a ladies’ man.
‘I’m going to be a great islander because girls love me, I’ve got great energy and I’m always positive. I’ve basically got a great all-round personality. I’m not going to lie, I do find it quite easy to find girls,’ he says.
And if you think you recognise him, here’s why: ‘I was in Blazin’ Squad. They were the best days of my life. People do still recognise me when I’m out….’
Kem is a 21-year-old hairdresser from Essex. In fact, he cuts the hair of Spencer Matthews and Pete Wicks, to name a few of his reality star clients.
‘I want a girl version of me! Someone as mad and crazy as me. I’m not normal and I think the people who make Love Island know that, so I’m hoping they’ll have found a girl who’s not normal, who’ll be a good match for me,’ he says.
Sam is an Oil Rig Worker from Middlesbrough.
It seems as though the 21-year-old has one big mission: ‘I don’t beat around the bush: I’m going on to win the show, not to make friends! At the end of the day, it’s a competition.’
Harley is a 22-year-old Groundsworker from Norwich.
When asked how girls would describe him, he says: ‘They’d say I’m a bit of a Ken Doll or Baywatch kind of guy. I work out a lot. I call it a lifestyle more than a hobby…’
But it seems as though he’s one for commitment, with his last relationship spanning two and a half years: ‘We split up about eight weeks ago and since then I haven’t gone on any dates. I’ve just focused on me.’
This 26-year-old is a Careers Advisor from Manchester.
Describing himself as a ‘serial dater’, Dominic says: ‘I don’t go for fancy dates. I like fun stuff like trampolining or bowling or just random stuff. It’s like an ice-breaker.’
His biggest fear about the show?
‘I don’t have any fears. I just hope I come across alright on the TV, really. I don’t mind if the girls bin me off or I don’t get in a couple. You get knock-backs in life, you can’t be everyone’s cup of tea, can you? I won’t take it personally.’
Love Island returns to our screens (hoorah!) on Monday 5th June at 9pm.
