Lea Michele’s emotional Glee story is set to continue as the star lands her own spin-off show.
Glee creator Ryan Murphy has confirmed the news, following his decision to end the main series after the death of Lea’s off-screen boyfriend, Cory Monteith, in July.
Talking about a spin-off show for Lea’s character, Rachel Berry, Ryan told RadarOnline: “This is definitely happening. This will be announced soon.
“They’re making the deals now and it also presents a viable exit plan for the main Glee series itself – in that some of its core cast would also migrate to the Lea Michele project as Glee is showing signs of aging.”
So Lea may not be the only character to stay on our screens after season 6. Hurrah.
The 27-year-old actress turned to her Glee co-stars for support after Cory’s untimely death, which was caused by a lethal cocktail of heroin and alcohol.
Speaking out for the first time after his death, Lea said: “I feel like, for me personally, I’ve lost two people: Cory and Finn.
“There was no greater man than Cory, so for the time we spent together I consider myself very lucky.
“Everyone is asking: ‘Is it hard to do this? Is it hard to be back at work?’, but the truth is it’s no harder at work than it is in life so we might as well all be together as a family supporting each other to get through this together.”
We’re sure Lea‘s spin-off will be a hit, count us in.
