Lea Michele has broken her Twitter silence for the first time since her boyfriend Cory Monteith died of a drug overdose earlier this month, taking to her account to thank her fans for their support and posting a photo of her and the late actor on the beach.
The 26-year-old Glee star, who had been dating co-star Cory for around a year, wrote: “Thank you all for helping me through this time with your enormous love & support. Cory will forever be in my heart” alongside the picture of her and the late actor.
The Twitter post marks the first time Lea has directly spoken about the death of her on/off-screen boyfriend, whom the Glee cast honoured last week at a private memorial service in LA.
A statement sent earlier this month from her reps on her behalf read: “Lea is deeply grateful for all the love and support she’s received from family, friends, and fans. Lea and Cory’s family are supporting each other as they endure this profound loss together. We continue to ask the media to respect the privacy of Lea and Cory’s family.”
Cory, 31, was found dead in his hotel room on July 13 in Canada after overdosing on a cocktail of heroin and alcohol. Glee creator Ryan Murphy recently announced that the show will air a tribute episode to Monteith this autumn.
