Lea Michele joined her Glee co-stars for an emotional memorial service yesterday to pay their respects to her late boyfriend Cory Monteith, who died from a drug overdose last week.
Held at the Paramount Studios in LA where the hit musical TV show is filmed, the service saw the cast and crew gathering together to share stories and pay tribute to their friend and co-star, Cory. A statement released by 20th Century Fox Television read:
“Today, Ryan Murphy and Lea Michele gathered the cast, crew and producers of Glee, along with colleagues from the network and studio, to share memories and music in an emotional celebration of the life of Cory Monteith. We thank the public for their continued outpouring of love and support as we grieve our friend and colleague during this difficult time.”
The public celebration of the actor’s life comes after girlfriend Lea joined Cory’s close friends and family for a private cremation service last week following the 31-year-old’s tragic heroin and alcohol overdose.
Lea’s Glee co-stars Dianna Agron, Darren Criss, Jenna Ushkowitz, Kevin McHale and Harry Shum Jr. were later spotted heading for lunch together at West Hollywood’s nearby A.O.C restaurant, all dressed in black and wearing sunglasses, although Lea was not present.
Glee‘s Jane Lynch, who plays Sue Sylvester in the show, later told TMZ about the service: “It was beautiful. And still really sad, but it was beautiful”, before adding that it was “nice to all be together again.”
