Wow. So this weekend’s X Factor was emotional.
We saw Louisa Johnson, Lauren Murray, Reggie N Bollie and Che Chesterman battle it out for a place in next week’s grand final.
They all showed off their singing prowess, proving it would be a pretty tough choice to decide who would be going home.
Unfortunately for Lauren, 26, and 19-year-old Che, things took a rather unpleasant turn.
They both landed themselves in the bottom two and had to sing for survival. Lauren chose Fight Song while Che went for Bridge Over Troubled Water.
It was clear that Lauren was struggling quite a bit, returning to the stage in floods of tears. Our hearts definitely went out to her.
However, this didn’t sway the judges. Instead, they seemed rather confused.
As expected, Rita voted for Lauren. Nick Grimshaw stood by his one remaining boy, while Cheryl also opted to save Che.
But Simon Cowell couldn’t make his mind up, leaving the decision to go to deadlock. That was when it was revealed that Lauren had received the lowest number of public votes.
Twitter viewers were quick to sympathise with the talented Essex lady. But there was one teeny thing they couldn’t help noticing about her appearance on stage.
Due to her tears, one of her false eyelashes had, er, come detached. Every girl’s worst nightmare, right?!
One Tweeter wrote: ‘So gutted for Lauren Murray’s eyelash,’ while another wrote: ‘Poor @laurenmurray and that eyelash #xfactor.’
Luckily, someone came to the rescue while her best bits played out. When she said her thank yous at the end of the programme, the misbehaving falsie had been removed. Phew.
But that wasn’t the end of Lauren’s dramatic night. She’d been left so gutted by the decision, she didn’t even manage to make it onto spin-off The Xtra Factor.
Rita told hosts Rochelle Humes and Melvin Odoom: ‘She’s so upset. But sometimes it can get to you. Sometimes I get panicky from coming off stage, wondering if that was okay.
‘Nothing anyone says to you will change your mind. People love Lauren, they love her, they connect with her. She will be fine.’
We totally agree, Lauren.
