Actress Paula Lane bowed out of the soap in July - and her co-stars are finding it a little hard to adjust...
Coronation Street is still feeling the aftermath of Kylie Platt’s death.
The long-running character – who was played by actress Paula Lane – was killed off in an incredibly emotional episode two months ago, being stabbed in the heart by thug Clayton.
Since then, things have gone from bad to worse for her husband David Platt (Jack P Shepherd). And we’re definitely not over Destiny’s Child’s Bootylicious being played at her funeral.
But it isn’t just the characters who’ve lost a loved one. The cast are also missing Paula, who played the nail technician for six years.
Speaking at the TV Choice Awards earlier this week, Catherine Tyldesley (AKA Eva Price) told OK!: ‘It’s really weird. I’m still upset that they’ve killed her off.
‘When certain characters leave, there’s definitely a loss.’
Faye Brookes (Kate Connor) added: ‘She was my dressing room buddy so when I come to work, I’m like: “She’s not here anymore!”
‘She’ll go on to do amazing things but she was such a great character in Coronation Street. We miss her because she was such a big part of the family.’
Paula explained her reasons for leaving at the time, saying she was ‘ready to move on’, especially due to the fact that she was originally only contracted for a six-month stint.
And it’s not as though she’s been sitting around bored at home since. She and her husband Tom Shaw welcomed their second child Penny in July. Aw.
The couple are already parents to one-year-old son Arthur, so we imagine things are pretty hectic in their household right now.
Let’s hope she’s still managing to catch the odd episode of Corrie, eh?!
