The reality star has used her platform to talk about important issues in the past, but this KUWTK clip from before Kim's robbery suddenly takes on a whole new meaning...
Kim Kardashian West has always been a very vocal spokesperson when it comes to gun laws in America.
The 36-year-old isn’t afraid to use her celebrity status to speak on topics that really matter, which is just another reason why we love her. A new teaser clip for her reality show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, shows Kim trying to convince her sisters, Khloe Kardashian and Kendall Jenner, to do the same.
She tells them, ‘I work with this organisation Everytown, and I set up a lunch with some gun violence victims… some family members that have been affected that I think would really love to meet you guys, because they really do appreciate people like us speaking out.’
In the E! footage, Kim can also be seen telling the camera, ‘I’ve been meeting with Everytown an organisation that’s fighting to change all the gun control laws. There are so many loopholes in the system, and I just feel really passionately how our gun control laws have to change.’
Whilst Khloe agrees to take part pretty quickly, Kendall seems a little hesitant due to concerns of potential backlash from people with different opinions.
Kim tells her little sister, ‘That’s why a lot of people don’t get involved I’ve learned cos you can get a lot of backlash.
‘I feel like in life, I’ve gotten a lot of backlash and I’ve gotten a lot of hate, so I’m just going to stick up for what I believe in and what I want.’
This isn’t the first time that Kim has publicly advocated the need for tighter controls on fire arms in the US, having used her vast social media influence to shed light on the issue before now.
The campaign is sure to be even closer to the reality star’s heart now, having experienced her own terrifying ordeal in Paris a few weeks back when she was robbed at gunpoint in the early hours of the morning.
We can only hope that, when Kim returns to the public eye, she will remain dedicated to the issues that matter so much to her.
