The Problem With *This* Celebrity Domestic Violence Campaign

Kim Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Emma Watson, Miley Cyrus and Angelina Jolie are all the stars of a brand new (and seriously provocative) domestic violence campaign.

Famous artist and activist aleXsandro Palombo decided to doctor the faces of the famous women for his No Woman is Immune from Domestic Violence project, in honour of the International Day for Elimination of Violence (November 25th).

The results are unsettling, with the likes of Kim and Kendall seen with black eyes and swollen lips and the hashtag #stopviolenceagainstwomen stamped underneath.

However, it’s emerged that the artist may not have had permission to use the shots, and that in fact, Kim, Kendall, Emma, Miley and Angelina didn’t pose for the pictures at all.

TMZ is reporting that neither Kim nor Kendall had signed off on their portraits being used in the campaign, and that no-one had contacted them about being part of the whole thing.

Apparently, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians stars’ attorneys are now ‘reaching out to the artist responsible to issue a warning.’ Uh oh.

At first glance, we were all for Palombo’s powerful new campaign, which aims to encourage people to speak up in the face of abuse.

But not getting any kind of permission to use these celebrities’ faces in such a controversial campaign? Well, if true, that has to be a serious lack of judgement on his part.

aleXsandro says of his new photo series: ‘The biggest accomplice of violence is the silence, a silence which every year kills or causes permanent disability more than diseases or accidents.’

Calling domestic violence a ‘social cancer’, he added to Mail Online: ‘Each of us has do their part to help increase awareness and to change things by any means.’

It is widely known that Kim Kardashian filed allegations of abuse against her first husband, music producer Damon Thomas, back in 2010.

‘Damon decided what we would do and when we would do it. He was very much the ‘King of the castle”, read court documents from that time, with Kim adding that her husband limited her contact with her family, didn’t allow her to leave the house, and hit her.

As of yet, there has been no word from camp Kardashian. We will keep you posted…
