It is the first time the Duke and Duchess have visited the city and the royal couple naturally received a very warm welcome from the locals.
Kate and Wills arrived in Cambridge at around 10am after hopping off a train from King’s Cross station. Yep, they got the train!
They were welcomed by the Lord Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, who told The Mirror: “We’re delighted that they are with us. They’ve come to claim to claim and county they’re named after. They have been very anxious to come.”
Prince William was given the title the ‘Duke Of Cambridge’ on the morning of his wedding on 29th April in 2011, and Kate was given her title of Duchess when they wed.
It came as a surprise to us that this is the first time they’ve visited the city, but the Lieutenant added: “They have very a busy life with him having a full time job.”
So far the couple have been to the Senate House where William made a speech, and later they will open a 24-hour support centre for homeless people. Then they’ll watch a drama presentation at a local school, before meeting hospital patients.
We’ll bring your more pictures of the gorgeous royals as soon as they land… RM
