Jillian Michaels Gives Us Her Workout Tips

Want amazing abs? A peachy, peachy behind? Super strong arms? Jillian Michaels is the woman to get you there… if you’re willing to put in the hard work that is. You may know her from her super tough but doable DVDs including the now infamous 30 Day Shred or from her stint on The Biggest Loser. But we’re all about to see her in a whole different light as she shares her daily life on camera in new docu series Just Jillian, on E!

We caught up with the celebrity trainer for some tips… Now where did we put that gym bag?!

What’s your advice for busy women who find it hard to motivate themselves?

Find Your Why. “When you have a why to live for you can tolerate any how”

What piece of fitness advice do you give EVERYONE? 

Make your time count and when you train, train hard. Do HIIT intervals and mix free weight training with bodyweight training.

What’s the one thing you never skip during your workout?

My warm up. Always want to avoid injury whenever possible.

When you really, really don’t want to get out of bed in the morning, how can you motivate yourself to get out and exercise?

I remind myself of all the great things fitness provides me – confidence, strength and energy.

How important is it to switch up your workouts?

It’s critical. Your body adapts to stimulus and if you do the same thing over and over you will stop seeing results.  Diversity with your training is the best way to keep the body from plateau and make sure you are the most well rounded athlete possible.

What advice would you give fitness newbies?

Build a base of support be it a group class, trainer, or exercise buddy and get informed so your workout is as effective as possibe.  Knowledge is power. Not only will it keep you from injury it will facillitate results to help keep you motivated.
