It’s been a tough few hours for Jesy Nelson.
The 24-year-old fell ill yesterday, forcing Little Mix to cancel both their matinee and evening Get Weird tour dates in Belfast.
They made their announcement on Twitter, posting a photo of an iPhone note alongside the caption: ‘A message from Little Mix #GetWeirdTourBelfast LM HQ x.’
The message read: ‘Little Mix have unfortunately had to cancel both of their Arena shows in Belfast today.
‘Sadly Jesy is unwell and unable to sing, and as a result both the matinee and evening shows are cancelled. Little Mix would like to apologise to their fans.
‘Ticket holders should hold on to their tickets and await further news. LM HQ x
Then a heartbreaking fan video emerged, which showed Jesy breaking down on stage just hours beforehand.
In the clip – posted by user Ryan Love – Jesy was seen introducing one of the group’s songs by saying: ‘If you’re ever feeling really crap about yourself or not feeling confident this is exactly why we wrote this song…’
The singer then had to pause to compose herself, and struggled to get her next words out as she fought back tears.
Bandmates Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards and Leigh-Anne Pinnock ran over to hug her, as Jesy told the crowd: ‘I’m so emotional. I don’t know what’s wrong with me!’
Thankfully, the majority of Mixers seemed sympathetic. In fact, they even managed to get the hashtag #GetWellSoonJesy trending.
But Jesy’s also received some vile comments from trolls, who’ve told her to ‘go kill your f***ing self’ and ‘die now’. Horrible.
One particular Instagram photo seemed to be getting targeted, with one angry follower repeatedly making cruel jibes about her weight.
Another vented: ‘Sick my bum could the other three not play like the little ones would not care if there was three like OMG waste of money and time there was children crying outside [sic].’
Let’s hope Jesy realises how much support she has. Get well soon, lady.
