Glam is Jennifer Lopez‘s middle name – whether she’s rocking a plunging mini on the red carpet or jeans and a shirt, she always looks smoking. And her latest look – a distressed denim shirt by MOTHER and dark cropped skinny jeans – is no exception.
It could have been a pretty incognito look for the singer-stroke-actress, but paired with nude heels, an undone updo and aviators sunnies, she gave it serious sex appeal.
She’s not the only star who’s been extolling the virtues of doubling up on your denim, recently. Jessica Alba made us swoon with her recent street style combo of cropped chambray shirt and boyfriend jeans. She even added white heels to the mix for a real throwback vibe.
And at New York Fashion Week Olivia Palermo also paid homage to ’90s-style denim, pairing a distressed denim pencil skirt with a lighter button-down, undone nearly to her navel – cheeky. Keeping it contemporary, OP finished her look with a pair of nude lace-up heels and an oversized satchel.
So, it’s official – double denim is back. A light denim shirt is your fail-safe for a good spin on the trend – stick to a distressed or mid wash. And whether you choose to pair it with skinny jeans, flares or a denim midi, just remember you don’t want an exact match. Two complementing but different denim shades will keep the look fresh.
