Instagram’s changing it up, people.
Get ready for a whole new look for the social media app, because that iconic blue Instagram design is being swapped for a minimalist monochrome theme.
Yep, we’ve already seen changes to notifications, a new feed algorithm and longer videos so far this year, but this time, Instagram is opting for a change to its colour scheme.
Now, the app will boast a sleek black-and-white interface, with bigger images and a slightly different heart icon. We actually think it looks pretty cool, because let’s be honest, monochrome goes with anything.
However, if you’re not a fan, you don’t need to worry just yet – Instagram will only be trialling the new black and white colour scheme with a small number of users, presumably to gauge the reaction.
‘We often test new experiences with a small percentage of the global community,’ an Instagram spokesman told The Verge. ‘This is a design test only.’
It definitely looks more arty, and makes images on your feed stand out a little more, so we’re giving it the thumbs up. But not everyone agrees with us.
Twitter has been flooded with comments of dissappointed users, who are less than impressed with the new ‘boring’ design.
‘Instagram A/B-testing bland, boring, black-and-white design. Please no’, one person tweeted.
‘OMGGGGG WHAT HAPPENED TO THE INSTAGRAM APP DESIGN. So BLACK AND WHITE. No Blues’, cried another.
Saying that, there were some positive reviews. ‘I love the new look on Instagram, this black and white design is so clean!!’ another person gushed.
