Fans pointed out that Honey G made a bit of an error on Saturday night's The X Factor...
Honey G got rave reviews from the judges after her performance on Saturday night’s The X Factor – but she’s still causing controversy amongst viewers of the show.
The 35-year-old rapper put on another high energy performance of Will Smith’s Men In Black for the Halloween special, and once again, the judges loved it.
But something Honey G, real name Anna Gilford, said in her pre-performance VT bothered viewers, and they took to Twitter immediately to highlight the singer’s gaff.
‘I’ve been working really hard on my track’, Honey was seen seeing in the footage. ‘It takes quite a lot of determination and perseverance to learn a rap. I’ve been learning my lyrics, learning all the ad-libs.’
Erm. What? Yep, poor Honey accidentally had a slip of the tongue when she stated that she’d been rehearsing her ‘ad-libs’, which are meant to be off-the-cuff, spontaneous additions to a song.
Oops. And Twitter erupted.
‘Did Honey G just say she has been learning her ad libs?!! Surely that’s a contradiction? #XFactor,’ one fan tweeted.
‘Honey G talks about her raps and ‘learning all the ad-libs’ which means THEY’RE NOT AD-LIBS #XFactor’, said another.
And it didn’t end there. Honey also branded herself ‘the UK’s top rapper right now’, which also ruffled a few feathers.
‘The UK’s top rapper?! Sit down with your ego Honey G! #XFactor’, one viewer slammed.
‘Top rapper in the UK? Honey G needs to chill #XFactor’, another posted.
The controversy comes just days after former The X Factor competitors Little Mix labelled the rapper an ‘actress’.
‘She’s just no. I think she’s an actress, I’ve been told she is as well’, Jesy Nelson said during an interview with Kiss FM.
‘I’m all for entertainment, but I’m also all for real talent as well’, Leigh-Anne Pinnock added.
