Fans are convinced that his new track Two Ghosts is about his ex...
Harry Styles has spoken out about those rumours his new track Two Ghosts is about ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift.
The 23-year-old singer is on Nick Grimshaw’s BBC Radio 1 show this morning, where he’s been grilled on the meaning of the song.
Nick, 32, told Hazza: ‘I really love this song, it’s one of my favourites. This is the song that your really eagle-eyed fans have paused and zoomed in on. This has been on the actual news.’
When probed on who or what it references, Harry mysteriously replied: ‘I think it’s pretty self-explanatory. It’s about sometimes things change and you do all the same things and sometimes it’s different.’
Nick said: ‘That’s a roundabout answer,’ before jokily introducing the tune as: ‘‘The one about Taylor Swift.’ Harry then quipped: ‘I’m going to Capital!’ LOLz.
One Direction fans first got the Taylor Swift connection in their head when Apple released a 30-second trailer of Harry’s Behind The Album documentary this week.
At one point, he’s seen singing a song that matches lyrics in a notebook. Of course, a dedicated fan account was quick to blow up the clip to reveal the words.
They discovered that they read: ‘Same lips red, same eyes blue/ Same white shirt, couple more tattoos/But it’s not you, and it’s not me/Tastes so sweet, looks so real.
‘Sounds like something that I used to feel/But I can’t touch what I see/We’re not who we used to be/We’re not who we used to be/We’re just two ghosts standing in…’
Ooh. It does sound quite Swift-esque, doesn’t it? Taylor, 27, is known for her pillar box-red lippy – and she has blue eyes.
Tweets included: ‘“Same red lips same eyes blue” two ghosts is about haylor,’ and: ‘I knew two ghosts would be about haylor I’m shooken [sic].’
Harry is clearly keeping schtum, so we guess Directioners will just have to keep on speculating…
