Glee star Cory Monteith has entered himself into rehab for substance abuse, his rep has confirmed. The star checked himself into a treatment facility over the weekend. A spokesperson for the star said he “has voluntarily admitted himself to a treatment facility for substance addiction. He graciously asks for your respect and privacy as he takes the necessary steps towards recovery.”
Cory has battled addiction before and spent time in a rehab facility when he was just 19. He admits he even stole from relatives to fund his habit. In a 2011 interview, he said: “I was done fighting myself. I’m gonna start looking at my life and figure out why I’m doing this.”
We’re right behind you, Cory.
The star’s girlfriend, Lea Michele has issued a statement offering her support. She says: “I love and support Cory and will stand by him through this. I am grateful and proud he made this decision.”
Aww. It’s being reported that Cory will miss the last two episodes of Glee, and that the remaining scenes will be filmed without him.
Glee creator Ryan Murphy tweeted yesterday: “I am so proud of Cory Monteith and love and support him 100 [percent].”
Good luck, Cory… RM
