The latest evictee made a surprising statement on Good Morning Britain earlier today...
Gifty Louise has reacted to allegations her exit on last night’s X Factor was ‘fixed’.
The 20-year-old singer appeared on Good Morning Britain earlier today, where she said: ‘I feel like they had made up their mind already. I wish it had gone to the public vote.
‘I am crushed. I’m still shocked. It hasn’t sunk in yet. I feel like the judges had already made up their mind.’
She later continued: ‘I was quite upset with Sharon [Osbourne] and Nicole [Scherzinger]’s decision because they gave me a standing ovation, then they turned around and gave me a no.’
Eep. So it sounds like she’s backing up fans’ suspicions…
So why did viewers think Gifty’s fate was pre-decided? Well, after she’d performed in the sing-off with girl group 4 Of Diamonds, her mentor Simon Cowell made a huge faux pax.
Host Dermot O’Leary asked him: ‘Simon, the name of the act you’re sending home,’ to which the 57-year-old confidently responded: ‘Gifty.’
Gifty looked on crestfallen, before Simon clarified: ‘I’m not sending Gifty home, I’m sending the girls home.’
This got a few conspiracy theorists’ backs up, with one Tweeting: ‘Simon Cowell sent home Gifty accidentally because production were telling the other judges over their earphones. Messy production. #XFACTOR.’
Hmm. Simon’s yet to comment on the speculation, but Gifty’s said he’s since apologised.
However, that’s not the only error that he made over the weekend.
Gifty sang Fifth Harmony’s I’m In Love With A Monster on Saturday night, which Simon has admitted was a ‘mistake’.
Now she’s concurred: ‘I feel like I was consistent every single week, but I wasn’t confident about the song choice.
‘I didn’t feel too great about doing a third Fifth Harmony song, I was worried it would be too predictable. ‘
‘I had a chat with [Simon] after my performance on the Saturday and I told him: “I’m going home and I know it.”‘
